Foray into the Unknown
TE 6050, Orhan 2, day 12 Norric Village, Northern Coast of Kælia (hex 1401)
After dispatching the ashen men, the Castaways packed their gear and started southward towards the interior of the island. After climbing a steep grade, the land leveled off to have a commanding view of the ruined village of Norric and the Golden Sea beyond. A small plaza with a ten-foot statue, now vine-covered, was dedicated to Shaal, god of the sea. The inspiration at the base of the merman statue asked for Shaal’s mercy, and not his judgment, to those that sail from here.

By noon, the group spotted an ill omen. A deer laid mangled alongside the trail, with deep talon marks along its side, and worst, trauma indicating a drop from a considerable height. Watching the skies soon became a priority for the would-be adventures.
After stopping at a shallow stream to refresh water skins, the group headed down the rolling hills into a valley, where they had spotted a small village nestled against an escarpment.

As they moved along the path, a group of “rabbit men” poorly hide in the tall grass hoping to catch the wanderers by surprise. No parley or invitation needed, the Castaways sprang into action attacking the ambushers. Rabbit-like humanoids breed like, well, rabbits. Soon the grasslands became alive with many foes joining in on the fray. The group, bloodied and wounded, all lived to tell the tale, and some sixteen of these enemies lying scattered in the tall grass.
The group, now with a few severely wounded, pressed on towards the village. Arriving on the outskirts of what looked like a mining town, complete with mine entrance deep in the side of the grey rock escarpment.
After visiting the inn, the group decided against going in. Inside, they saw huddled in the shadows a dozen or so undead waiting for sunset.
From there, they moved to the mine office building. Here several papers were found identify the village as Montora. Blackjack found a little coin and a few gems, and Zandra, who was more wounded that the rest, saw an ashen scout, who seemed quite eager to rush the building.
